Tile

technical information

Gustin Tile is handmade of vitreous high-temperature stoneware clay, fired to 2300 degrees Fahrenheit. It is a hard, durable tile, ideal for most architectural applications, including floors, kitchen counters, and backsplashes, bathrooms, shower and tub enclosures, entryways, patios, and pools.

All tile are hand glazed, ensuring a rich variation of color within a single glaze choice. It is inherent in the hand processes used that glaze variation will occur between tile in regard to color, surface, and texture. This is what gives Gustin Tile its unique beauty and individuality. It is recommended that the final selection of glaze color be made by viewing more than a single tile so that the glaze’s variation and subtlety can be appreciated. For final glaze selection, we will be happy to ship additional samples upon request.

Gustin Tile is delivered pre-sealed. The sealer used is a stain resistant, below-surface sealer which allows moisture vapor transmission, and protects the tile from the grouting process. The installation process, however, may remove some of the sealer and leave the tile porous for staining.

It is highly recommended that all tile are re-sealed after installation, to avoid staining of tile. The recommended sealer is 511 Porus Plus, manufactured by Miracle Products.
